Things you may need to know:

From the camp fields Castlerigg Farm has views of Derwent Water and in the distance Bassenthwaite Lake. From the caravan field distant views of Bassenthwait Lake are available from some pitches with mountain views available for everyone. The site is a mile and a half from Keswick town centre which is approximately a 25 minute walk down hill. The site is classed as gently sloping with most pitches on grass but some caravan and Motorhome pitches are hard standing. Cars can be parked next to the pitch. Caravan, Motorhome and some tent pitches have electricity. Pitches are available for Caravans and Motorhomes without electricity. All facilities are located at the bottom of the site. The furthest tent pitch from the facilities is a 120 yard walk downhill and across grass. No advanced reservations are taken for camping.

Reception is open from 8.00 am to 9.30 pm. In emergencies, when Reception is closed, there is an intercom located outside Reception door, please note, this facility is for emergencies only and does not provide a 24 hour service. The site has a pay phone located beside the static caravan and some mobiles including Orange have network coverage. For security reasons the site gate is closed from 10.00 pm to 8.00 am. Walk-in access is available 24/7. The gate can easily be opened in an emergency and access for visitors with walking difficulties can be arranged, please ask at Reception on arrival.

We have written information for hard of hearing visitors and most Reception staff have been trained to assist people who are deaf or hard of hearing.

The site has a small shop which provides a range of provisions including milk, bread, toiletries, and camping items, in high season we also provide newspapers. Parking is usually available close to all the facilities for visitors with walking disabilities.
