Castlerigg Farm can boast to be the highest Camping & Caravan Site in the area. It’s elevated position provides visitors with one of the best panoramic views in the Lake District. Ideally located away from main roads the site has a rule of Silence between 10.30 pm and 7.00 am which is ideal for those visitors who want to enjoy the quieter side of camping.
Reservations for pitches with electricity are strongly recommended. To make a reservation please call 017687 72479 Monday to Sunday between 8.00 am and 9.30pm. All reservations require a booking fee which is non refundable.
Some electricity pitches have Hard Standing and some are suitable for tents.
All pitches have views, some views are more extensive than others. Our ground is classed as gently sloping so some pitches require levelling blocks. Caravan & Motor Home prices include up to 2 people, electricity & awning.
Sorry we do not take reservations for camping. We do make one exception and allow camping reservations to be made for schools completing Duke of Edinburgh awards.
No charge for well behaved dogs. And if you do bring your four-legged friend than make sure you check out our large dog walk area and doggie shower.
The site rule of “SILENCE between 10.30 pm and 7.00 am” is in keeping with this quiet family run site. Respect and consideration for Staff and fellow visitors is always required.
Our aim is for all visitors to our lovely site in the Lake District to have an enjoyable stay. Ideally we would love you to stay with us but if you think our “Silence” rule is not for you, don’t worry, just drop us an email explaining what kind of site you are looking for and we will do our best to find you a site in our area to fit your requirements.
We welcome families, e.g. mum, dad and children, couples on their own or single campers.
We are located in the quiet countryside which is a bonus but it also comes with the drawback of being on a private water supply. Our water supply is not unlimited so to help control water flow and to prevent overuse we charge 50p for showers. The showers are power showers and last approximately 3 1/2 mins, there is no charge for any other hot or cold water.
WiFi is Available to ALL Pitches at a small charge. £2.00 for 24hrs for 2 devices

ELECTRICITY POINTS – Some hookup pitches will require levelling blocks. If a specific electricity pitch is asked for we will do our best to accommodate your requirements, however, we can not guarantee specific pitches as, due to unforeseen circumstances, pitches may have to be changed.
AWNINGS – There is no charge for awnings as long as the following rules are applied: on grass pitches we ask for all awnings to have a ground sheet. All ground sheets to be fully breathable. On grass pitches with electricity we do not allow awnings with inner tents. We ask visitors not to place plastic under the ground sheet or place carpets or solid items on top of the ground sheet. Please allow the grass to get light and air at all times.
At wet times it may be necessary to ask visitors on grass pitches NOT to take vehicles on to the grass. If it is wet our priority is to protect the ground, vehicles may be required to park on the hard road inside the caravan field and visitors will walk to their units, (approx 20 yards). Our ground dries quickly and wherever possible we will allow vehicles to park beside their units. During wet times our experienced staff will take your caravan on to the pitch and park it for you, on departure day we will remove your caravan from the pitch and bring it on to the hard road ready for you to hook up.
No charge for children under 3.
No charge for well behaved dogs, though dogs must be on a lead at ALL times, in the presence of an adult and must not be left on site unattended unless staff are informed. We provide a Dog Walking area and shower but do ask visitors to always pick up after their animals. Dogs are not allowed in the buildings – Guide dogs excepted.
Due to our quiet policy the use of generators must be discussed prior to arrival. Please do not be offended if we have to refuse as the use of generators depends on how busy the site is.
WiFi is available at a small charge to all pitches.
For security reasons the site gate closes at 10.00 pm, no vehicles can enter the site after this time. Parking is available outside the gate which is on site property and access for walking into the site is available 24/7. This does not stop vehicles leaving the site at any time.
Please do contact us if you have any questions regarding these guidelines or there is something we have not made clear enough.
