New for 2026 – Fully Serviced electric pitches.

Our Fully serviced electric pitches have individual 16-amp electric hookup boxes; a water tap and a grey waste disposal drain.

These are set in the middle of the field with 360 degree views.

On our booking page they are numbers 35-74 – remember to bring your own drinking water hose.

Going Green

At Castlerigg Farm Camping and caravan site we care deeply about the environment and our beautiful surroundings. We have introduced electric metering on our hook ups.

These will help us:

  • Keep electricity costs fair for guests
  • Encourage people to use electricity responsibly
  • Reduce our carbon footprint and reduce waste
  • Reduce the need to increase prices in the future

What this means for you

Electricity is still included in the price. We include a generous 10kW per day. This will be sufficient for most guests and most guests won’t see any change in costs.

If you go over your allowance, you will pay the same rate as we pay, with no hidden fees or extra charges.

You can track your electricity use in real time through an app (details below).

Electricity prices have been increasing every year. We hope that with integrating this system we can sustain our business, maintain the high standards that our guests deserve and continue to make improvements.

As always, we appreciate the support from our guests and will keep reviewing how this system is working for everyone.

Getting ready in advance…

If you’re planning on taking full advantage of one of our new fully-serviced electric pitches then here’s a little introductory guidance plus a few frequestly asked questions to make your introduction as smooth and as simple as possible.

Step 1: Before arrival download the METPOW APP in readiness- go to the app store on your device and search for METPOW

Step 2: You will need to create an account by adding basic details, this can be done at home to ensure a smoother and quicker connection upon arrival.

Step 3: On arrival to your pitch – Plug in to your electric point

Step 4: Open the METPOW app, click scan QR code (found on your electric box) and entre your departure date

Step 5: Set up payment account. Save – you will now need to verify it is you. If you are given the option to verify as a text chose this option, a code will be sent to your phone. A minimum of  £2 per day will be pre-authorised by your bank (the amount pre- authorised will depend on the length of your stay).

Step 6: Follow any further instructions in the app. Your Electricity supply is activated. Check the app any time to see how much electric you are using/used.

NB The pre-authorised money does not physically leave your account, it is being held. If you do not go over the allotted KWH per night. The pre- authorised amount will be released when you leave. If you use over the allotted KWH per day, any amount owed will be taken after you leave.

You can pause your electric through the app at any time for example if you are going out for the day and do not require the electric to be on, then simply un pause upon your return.

The 10kw daily allowance will roll over, for example if you are staying for 5 days you have a 50kw allowance, if you use all 50kw in the first couple of days, then any extra kw used after the allowance will be charged at our standard rate.

If you don’t have a smart phone or are struggling at any time, please let a member of staff know and we can help you set this up.
