Prior booking for caravans and motorhomes is strongly advised especially for traditional busy periods such as Bank Holidays. Reservations for hook-up pitches which include some Bank Holidays have a minimum stay of 4 nights.

Please use the drop down box on the booking calendar booking calendar to select the type of accomdation.

ELECTRICITY POINTS – Some hookup pitches will require levelling blocks. If a specific electricity pitch is asked for we will do our best to accommodate your requirements, however, we can not guarantee specific pitches as, due to unforeseen circumstances, pitches may have to be changed.

ELECTRIC TENT PITCH’S – For stays longer than 7 days we will ask you on day 7 to move your tent to a seprate area of the pitch to minimise the damage to the grass.

AWNINGS – There is no charge for awnings as long as the following rules are applied: on grass pitches we ask for all awnings to have a ground sheet. All ground sheets to be fully breathable. On grass pitches with electricity we do not allow awnings with inner tents. We ask visitors not to place plastic under the ground sheet or place carpets or solid items on top of the ground sheet. Please allow the grass to get light and air at all times.

At wet times it may be necessary to ask visitors NOT to take vehicles on to the grass. If it is wet our priority is to protect the ground, vehicles may be required to park on the hard road inside the caravan field and visitors can walk to their units, (approx 20 yards). Our ground dries quickly and wherever possible we will allow vehicles to park beside their units.

General Conditions

Castlerigg Farm can boast to be the highest Camping & Caravan Site in the area. It’s elevated position provides visitors with one of the best panoramic views in the Lake District. Ideally located away from main roads the site has a rule of Silence between 10.30 pm and 7.00 am which is ideal for those visitors who want to enjoy the quieter side of camping.

Reservations for pitches with electricity are strongly recommended. To make a reservation use the calendar above by simply choosing a start date. All reservations require a booking fee which is non refundable.

Some electricity pitches have Hard Standing and some are suitable for tents.

All pitches have views, some views are more extensive than others. Our ground is classed as gently sloping so some pitches require levelling blocks. Caravan & Motor Home prices include up to 2 people, electricity & awning.

Sorry we do not take reservations for camping without electric. We do make one exception and allow camping reservations to be made for schools completing Duke of Edinburgh awards.

The site rule of “SILENCE between 10.30 pm and 7.00 am” is in keeping with this quiet family run site. Respect and consideration for Staff and fellow visitors is always required.

No charge for children 3 and under.

No charge for well behaved dogs, though dogs must be on a lead at ALL times, picked up after and in the presence of an adult and must not be left on site unattended unless staff are informed. We provide a large Dog Walking area and warm doggy shower. We ask visitors to always pick up after their animals. Dogs are not allowed in the buildings – Guide dogs excepted.

Due to our quiet policy the use of generators must be discussed prior to arrival. Please do not be offended if we have to refuse as the use of generators depends on how busy the site is.

WiFi is available on site.

For security reasons the site gate closes at 10.00 pm, no vehicles can enter the site after this time. Parking is available outside the gate which is on site property and access for walking into the site is available 24/7. This does not stop vehicles leaving the site at any time.

Please do contact us if you have any questions regarding these guidelines or there is something we have not made clear enough.
